Choosing between Festo MSB4 and MSB6 starts with the machine’s air requirements and the complete part number. Connection size alone is not enough.
Compare two GCE-listed configurations
The following specifications apply to these exact assemblies, rather than every MSB4 or MSB6.
- MSB4-1/4:C3J1M1-WP, material 542296: G1/4 connections, manual condensate drain and 40 µm filtration.
- MSB6-1/2:C3J2M1-WP, material 542278: G1/2 connections, fully automatic condensate drain and 40 µm filtration.
Both examples combine a manually operated on/off valve, filter regulator with pressure gauge and lubricator. Check that lubrication is appropriate for your equipment.
Choose using flow and pressure
Check the manufacturer’s flow data at your intended inlet and outlet pressures. For the MSB6 example above, Festo lists a standard nominal flow of 3,100 l/min, operating pressure of 2–12 bar and regulation range of 1–12 bar. Read these ratings alongside the datasheet’s conditions and limits.
Check installation dimensions, mounting space, flow direction, bowl clearance and access for maintenance. When replacing an existing unit, use its complete label and connection details to establish a suitable replacement.
Before ordering
- Confirm the full part and material numbers.
- Check required flow, inlet pressure and outlet pressure.
- Match port size and thread standard, including G versus NPT.
- Confirm functions, filtration and drain arrangement.
- Allow space for installation and servicing.
